Hand Sanitiser from 2 Ingredients

Ready in: 10 minutes

Information currently available states that to be effective against the Covid 19 virus a hand sanitiser must contain a minimum of 60% alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol is a well known and trusted product used for cleaning anything from heavy equipment to vinyl records. It evaporates quickly so is ideal for hand cleaning. It's available from hardware stores for around $20. NZ for 1 litre. You can also purchase it from pharmacies in tiny very expensive bottles. Don't use Vodka, that is for drinking and wont kill the virus.
The second ingredient is pure Aloe Vera gel - not a blend. I purchased a 340g bottle in a pharmacy for $13. NZ. These ingredients will make several batches.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup 99% Isopropropyl alcohol
  • 1/3 cup 100% Aloe Vera gel
  • a drop of essential oil for fragrance - optional

Method

Mix, blend or whisk the ingredients till combined. Add fragrance if desired. Transfer to spray and pump dispensers.

Tips

purchased a pack of very small "handbag" sized spray bottles in the $2 shop so we have them in the car, in our bags and with our gym kit, so we are never without the means to sanitise either our hands or a surface.
